A weather expert has said the weekend forecast for the June Bank Holiday is proving complicated, as predictions throw up numerous outcomes.
According to Met Eireann’s forecast, things are due to be mainly dry, however, other weather charts are showing a lot of wet weather making its way over Ireland.
In a post on the Carlow Weather Twitter, Alan O’Reilly wrote: “Still a lot of uncertainty around the weekend, this is not fun to try forecast”
As for the days leading up to the three-day break, Thursday will start dry for most with some sunny spells starting off the day with clouds continuing to build from the west.
There will be some rain coming in off the Atlantic affecting coastal counties during the morning. However, they will gradually move across the country, hitting eastern areas in the evening - parts of the southeast will remain dry.
Some heavy showers are predicted in the north and west later in the afternoon and evening with highest temperatures ranging from 15 to 18 degrees.
Showery rain will be confined to the eastern half of the country early in the evening before clearing as morning approaches.
A good deal of cloud is expected on Friday with scattered showers though there will be some sunny spells.
Some showers will be heavy with a chance of thundery downpours leading to localised flooding with highest temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees.
Early on Friday night, the showers will die away leaving a largely dry and clear night with lowest temperatures between 6C to 10C in light breezes.
Current indications for the bank holiday weekend suggest that Saturday and Sunday will be warm and dry with good spells of sunshine for most.
There is, however, a chance of some showers mainly in the south and southeast where it will be slightly cloudier.
Highest temperatures will be range from 16 to 20 degrees generally, coldest along eastern coasts due to light to moderate winds but it could reach the low twenties in parts of the southwest and west.
