On a day when Irish veteran Darren Randolph departed West Ham, Ireland u21 captain Conor Coventry has extended his contract with West Ham ahead of a proposed loan move to Championship side Rotherham.
A one year contract extension has been triggered, meaning the midfielder is now under contract at the Hammers until the end of next season.
He will see out the remainder of the season with the Championship side.

The u21 Irish captain, who has been capped a record 28 times at underage level for his country, has made seven appearances for the Irons this season.
However, only one of those appearances has come in the Premier League, with West Ham's poor form coupled with the summer signing of Flynn Downes limiting Coventry's gametime in recent months.
“I am buzzing to be here,” said Coventry after making the move.
“I had a really good chat with the gaffer and I really like what he is trying to build here and his vision for the team. It was a really good conversation with him and hopefully we can do well as a team.”
The FAI International U21 Player of the Year for 2021 joins a Rotherham side that are 20th in the Championship. They are five points outside the dropzone in their first season back in the second tier of English football.
