Ireland scam alert as fraudsters impersonate An Post banking

People are being urged to look out for scam texts appearing to be from An Post.

A text is currently circulating that appears to be from An Post banking. It warns customers that their account has been placed under immediate suspension.

It asks customers to visit a link to verify their account. It reads: "AN POST MONEY: Your account has been placed under immediate SUSPENSION please visit www.anpost-ie-money.com and VERIFY NOW."

An Post had previously warned customers to use clever tricks to avoid scam messages.

They are:

  • Stop and think! Are you expecting a package?
  • Check for misspelling, unusual links or unfamiliar sender email addresses
  • Watch out for urgent requests requesting immediate action

They have urged people not to respond to fraudulent texts or to give away any personal information. Users should also not click into the links provided in these messages.
