A primary school located in West Cork that had only one single child enrolled in its final year has been put up on the market.
Once labelled "Ireland's smallest school", Desertserges National in Enniskeane is looking for a new function after being put up for sale, Cork Beo reported.
The school, which was run through the Church of Ireland, overlooks the Bandon River and by its final year, only had one pupil, a boy.

They closed for the 2022/23 academic year.
The student numbers slowly declined over the years, with a tally of only five the year before. Ten pupils were divided between two classes from 2006 to 2011.
The history of the school itself dates back to the 1800s, after having undergone a number of extension works which were finally finished in 2009.

It is on the market for €180,000 and is suitable for "many uses" according to the agent Michael McKenna.
McKenna said: "The original school was constructed late1800's. The building has had two extensions, the eastern side was completed in 2009 and is of modern construction and the western extension is a prefabricated building, approximately 30 years old, with linking corridor to the original building."
