One lucky Irish Lotto player has come away from Wednesday night’s draw with winnings worth over €40,000.
The punter matched five numbers plus the bonus in the main draw, after the following numbers were called: 8, 11, 16, 24, 35, 40 and the bonus number 20.
This marked the biggest win of the night as the €5,481,637 jackpot rolls over to Saturday’s draw.

There were no major winners in either Lotto Plus 1 or Lotto Plus 2 draws, but over 72,000 players won prizes in the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws.
Meanwhile, a very lucky work syndicate in Ireland collected their big lotto prize today after matching five numbers plus the lucky star in the EuroMillions draw.
All nineteen members of the syndicate piled into the National Lottery’s winners' room this afternoon from Broderick’s in Co. Dublin - marking their first big win since setting up the syndicate back in February 2022.
The lucky group will now share the hefty prize of €193,667, meaning they each come away with a cool €10,000 each.
Head of the group syndicate, Alison Ennis, revealed the story behind the winning ticket after seven months of playing.
“We’ve been running this syndicate since February,” she said, “so it’s only 7 months old. I’m the one in charge of collecting the money and purchasing the tickets each week. On the night of the draw I was looking at tickets and I realised on the last line of the ticket we’d won!
“I took a picture of it and sent it into our syndicate group chat and the chat started hopping! We couldn’t believe it! Everyone was absolutely buzzing and getting sharing pictures celebrating in their own homes that night”, she reminisced.
Alison confirmed that she bought the winning quick pick ticket at the Circle K Westway service station on the Kylemore Road in Dublin 12.
Members of the syndicate revealed to the National Lottery how they hope to spend their winnings:
“I’ve just bought a new house, so this honestly couldn’t have come at a better time”, one syndicate member said.
“Well I’ve always wanted to get the bathrooms in my house re-vamped, so that’s definitely on the cards for me”, another syndicate member added.
A new car, a first tattoo, new teeth and a new back garden were among some of the other things syndicate members wish to do with their new prize money.
