Ireland’s turbulent weather is set to continue with more chaotic and changeable conditions forecast for the coming weeks.
Following freezing conditions and snow at the start of March, temperatures warmed up over St Patrick’s weekend and the country has been enjoying reasonably mild weather in recent days.
This has been accompanied by overall wet and windy conditions, which has prompted Met Eireann to issue a number of weather warnings this week.

The short respite of mild weather is set to come to an abrupt end this weekend, as temperatures turn cooler once again.
The national forecaster says the mercury will drop to freezing on Saturday night, while daytime temperatures on Sunday will struggle to reach double digits in a fresh northerly breeze.
It says by Sunday night, temperatures “will fall well below freezing as winds fall light”, with frost possible.
Continuing its forecast for Monday, it continued: “Current indications suggest Monday will be a cold dry day with light winds.”
It comes as some weather models show snow flurries falling in areas in the north and east this weekend.
The erratic weather changes once again from Tuesday however, with Met Eireann forecasting another stormy deluge.
Another spell of rain is forecast to arrive for Tuesday thanks to low pressure systems tracking nearby.
Giving its overall forecast for next week, it said: “High pressure remaining to the south will allow low pressure systems to track near or over the country bringing above average rainfall throughout. Mild air from the southwest will mean above average temperatures for much of the country though again, parts of the north and northwest will be closer to normal. Similarly, wind and rainfall amounts are the most likely hazards.”
