Iran's newly elected President, Masoud Pezeshkian, expressed deep sorrow and paid tribute to Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas political bureau chief who was recently assassinated. Pezeshkian hailed Haniyeh as a 'brave leader of the Palestinian resistance' and mourned his loss as a 'martyr of al-Quds.'

In his statement, Pezeshkian emphasized the strong bond between Iran and Palestine, vowing that the relationship between the two nations would only grow stronger in the face of adversity. He pledged to continue the path of resistance and defense of the oppressed, asserting that Iran would defend its territorial integrity and hold the perpetrators of the attack accountable.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas reported that Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli strike on his residence. While the Israeli military has not officially commented on the incident, senior officials have launched a series of airstrikes on Gaza, targeting Hamas militants with the goal of eliminating the group.

The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh has sparked outrage and condemnation from various quarters, with calls for justice and an end to the cycle of violence in the region. The situation remains tense as both sides brace for potential escalation in the conflict.
