Iran is preparing to respond to the strike on its embassy consulate in Damascus, which resulted in the deaths of top figures from its Revolutionary Guard Corps. The blame for the attack has been placed on Israel by Iran, with the country's highest ranking military commander, Bagheri, stating that the attack 'won’t remain unanswered'.
Bagheri emphasized that Iran will decide the timing and method of its response to the attack. He also issued a warning to the US, attributing the 'main responsibility' for the Damascus attack to the US.
Bagheri's remarks were made during the funeral procession of military officer Mohammed Reza Zahedi in Isfahan, where a large crowd gathered to pay their respects. Mourners were seen waving Iranian and Palestinian flags as Zahedi's coffin was carried through the streets in a decorated cortege.
Recent tensions in the region have escalated following an attack on Israel by Hamas, backed by Tehran, and subsequent military actions in Gaza. The US is reportedly on high alert and preparing for a potential significant attack by Iran targeting Israeli or American assets in retaliation for the Damascus strike.
