Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a warning on Wednesday, stating that countries involved in blocking missiles targeting Israel will be held responsible. This statement came in response to Jordan's assistance in intercepting projectiles fired from Iran towards Israel, with support also provided by the US and UK.
The missile attacks from Iran were a retaliatory response to the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut the previous week. Following the Iranian attack, Jordan's military announced that all units and formations in its armed forces' general command were placed on high alert to counter any threats to the kingdom's security and stability.
Jordan's Minister of Government Communication, Mohammad al-Momani, emphasized the country's commitment to not becoming a battleground for any conflict, prioritizing the protection of Jordan and its people above all else. This stance aligns with Jordan's previous involvement in intercepting missiles during an Iranian attack on Israel in April, which had also drawn warnings from Tehran.
During the recent attack on Israel, three individuals in Jordan were injured, and missile fragments landed in various parts of the country, including the capital, Amman. Reports from Jordanian state media highlighted the damage caused by the missile fragments, with one instance in the Balqa governorate where a 2-meter missile fragment landed.
