Iran Targets Israeli Air Bases In Missile Attack

Israeli Iron Dome air defense system launches to intercept missiles fired from Iran, in central Israel, Sunday, April 14, 2024. Iran launched its first direct military attack against Israel on Saturda

During the recent missile attack carried out by Iran on Tuesday night, the Israel Defense Forces reported that approximately 180 missiles were fired. Through a source analysis of geolocated videos of the attack, at least three apparent targets have been identified.

While it is still too early to determine the extent of the damage caused by the attack, further assessment will require daylight and likely satellite imagery. However, by examining the videos from the attack, a clearer picture of Iran's targets has emerged.

The footage indicates that a significant number of missiles fell either at or near the headquarters of Mossad, Nevatim Air Base, and Tel Nof Air Base. These locations align with the assessments made by the US intelligence community and Israeli authorities, who believed that Iran would likely target Israeli air bases and an intelligence base.

US intel and Israeli authorities predicted these targets.

Specifically, videos show that at least two missiles landed near the Mossad HQ in Tel Aviv's Glilot neighborhood, a densely populated area with various residential and commercial buildings. In the Negev desert in southern Israel, footage reveals a substantial number of Iranian rockets hitting the Nevatim base, one of Israel's largest military facilities.

Notably, the Nevatim base had been targeted by Iran during a previous attack on April 13, with the IDF reporting minimal damage on that occasion. Additionally, in the vicinity of the Tel Nof base, located more than 15 miles south of Tel Aviv, another video captured multiple missile impacts.
