Iran's Acting Foreign Minister Addresses Regional Counterparts On Assassination

Iran's acting foreign minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, has engaged in discussions with several regional counterparts following the assassination of Hamas' leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran. The incident has raised concerns about escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

Iran has accused Israel of carrying out the assassination at Haniyeh's residence in northern Tehran, although Israel has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bagheri Kani held separate conversations with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

During the discussions, Iran's acting foreign minister informed his Saudi counterpart that Iran intends to exercise its 'legitimate right to take remorseful and decisive action' against Israel in response to the incident.

Speaking to the Qatari prime minister, Bagheri Kani emphasized that Israel's actions had jeopardized Iran's national security by targeting Haniyeh, who was an 'official guest' attending the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

In his conversation with the Turkish foreign minister, Bagheri Kani highlighted the potential implications of the attack on Iran, stating that it poses 'serious threats to regional security and stability.'
