Eoin Morgan and Sam Curran will earn in excess of half-a-million pounds at next year’s Indian Premier League after they topped the English bids early in Thursday's auction.
World Cup-winning captain Morgan was caught in a bidding war between the Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, with the latter edging the auction for £563,000.
And Chennai Super Kings agreed £590,000 for Curran, although the England duo were eclipsed with three players snapped up for in excess of £1million.
Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins went for £1.6m and will join Morgan at Kolkata, while Kings XI Punjab paid £1.15m for Cummins’s international team-mate Glenn Maxwell.
The other millionaire player was South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris, heading to Royal Challengers Bangalore for £1.1m.
338 cricketers in total are going under the hammer at the IPL auction in Kolkata.
The 13th edition of the IPL begins on April 1, with the Mumbai Indians looking to defend their fourth title following a thrilling one-run win over the Chennai Super Kings last year.
