iPhone users need to check their photos in the next coming days to make sure they don't lose any when Apple makes a change. It has said that the My Photo Stream feature is being discontinued.
The function automatically stores photos from the past 30 days, but stopped doing so on June 26. Users now have until July 26 to make sure their photos are in other albums, otherwise they will disappear.
My Photos Stream is popular with some users as it has offered free storage for more than a decade. It has been used as an alternative to paying for extra iCloud storage, which has just gone up in price.
On its online support page, Apple wrote: "My Photo Stream is scheduled to be shut down on July 26, 2023. As part of this transition, new photo uploads to My Photo Stream from your devices will stop one month before, on June 26, 2023. If a photo you want isn't already in your library on a particular iPhone, iPad, or Mac, make sure that you save it to your library on that device."
As reported by the Mail, My Photo Stream was introduced in 2011. It automatically uploaded up to 1,000 photos from the past 30 days.
It also let users access those photos across all of their Apple devices. However, that is also a feature of Apple iCloud storage and anybody who has that feature activated shouldn't need to worry. Those who only use the free storage and have run out of space may have an issue, though.
To save images from My Photo Stream, open it, then select all of the images you want to keep. Click the 'share' button, which is a square with an upwards arrow coming out of it, and press 'save image'.
