Iowa Woman Sentenced To Jail For Voter Fraud Scheme

Trump Organization's former Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg arrives for sentencing for tax fraud scheme

The wife of an Iowa county supervisor has been sentenced to four months in jail for her involvement in a voter fraud scheme aimed at supporting her husband's congressional campaign. Kim Taylor, a Vietnam native, was convicted on 52 counts related to voter fraud after approaching voters of Vietnamese heritage with limited English comprehension and assisting them in filling out election forms and ballots.

Kim Taylor's husband, Jeremy Taylor, a former Iowa House member, ran for the Republican nomination for Iowa's 4th District congressional seat in 2020 but finished third in the race. Despite his loss, Jeremy Taylor went on to win a seat on the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors later that year.

Prosecutors argued that Kim Taylor's scheme was designed to bolster her husband's campaign by improperly influencing the election process. While no witnesses testified to seeing Kim Taylor personally sign any documents, her presence during the completion of the forms in each voter's home was a key element in the case.

In addition to her jail sentence, Kim Taylor has been ordered to serve four months of home confinement upon her release and to pay a fine of $5,200. Jeremy Taylor, who met his wife while teaching in Vietnam, has not been charged but has been identified as an unindicted co-conspirator in the case.
