Iowa and Minnesota couldn’t outscore the lowest point total spread in college football history

Iowa and Minnesota made some very bizarre college football betting history on very, very cold Saturday.

Vegas didn’t have much confidence that this latest round between the Hawkeyes and Golden Gophers, setting the total points over/under at a paltry 31.5. That’s the lowest point total that’s ever been recorded in college football history leading up to a game.

The weather was miserable for both teams with temperatures in the high teens and a 20 mph winds blowing through the stadium.

Well, the game went worse than the betting world could’ve imagined. The final total point spread ended up being a touchdown behind oddsmakers’ estimation.

While there have certainly been lower-scoring games throughout college football history, nobody has given Vegas such a cold shoulder like this matchup did.

While we’re sure the weather didn’t make it fun for either team to reach the end zone, only Iowa walked away satisfied with the frigid turnout.

The Hawkeyes won 13-10, but in reality, both teams won by getting to go inside and drink some hot chocolate.

As for Vegas, well, it probably wants a do-over after this historic result.
