Investigation launched after woman, 35, and two dogs die in tragic Derbyshire house fire

A 35-year-old woman and two dogs died in a tragic Derbyshire house fire, emergency services have said.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the address in Merlin Green, Sinfin, shortly after 11am on Friday and found the woman and dogs inside.

The force said there are no suspicious circumstances around the tragedy and they are now probing the cause of the blaze.

The identity of the woman has not been made public.

Pictures from the scene showed emergency services had erected green sheeting around the outside of a house.

"Firefighters are currently dealing with an incident on Merlin Green in Sinfin,” a spokesman from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service offered.

"Crews from Nottingham Road, Kingsway and Ascot Drive were called to attend at 11.13am.

“Derbyshire police are also in attendance. No further information is currently available."

Derbyshire police has been contacted for a statement.

Merlin Green is around 10km from Derby city centre.
