Merseyside police and fire and rescue service have confirmed they've launched an investigation after a building fire.
Emergency services were called to a derelict building, on Rainhill road, at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, May 2. At the scene fire crews from three engines found the two storey premises fully alight.
Another three fire engines and an aerial appliance were then sent, as approximately 50m by 30m of the first floor and roof were involved in fire. Firefighters used one hose reel jet and two main branches, as well as a compressed air foam system, to extinguish the flames.

Activity continued throughout the night and into the morning. Today, a spokesperson for the fire service told the ECHO crews are still dampening down and checking the building for hotspots.
They also confirmed that the scene has now been handed over to Merseyside Police and a joint investigation is underway into the cause.
