In Indonesia, the country's transport ministry is set to conduct an investigation following a concerning incident involving two Batik Air pilots who reportedly fell asleep during a recent flight to Jakarta. According to the state news agency, a preliminary report revealed that both the pilot and co-pilot had fallen asleep simultaneously for nearly 30 minutes, leading to the aircraft veering off its intended flight path.
Fortunately, none of the 153 passengers or four crew members onboard were harmed, and the aircraft itself sustained no damage as a result of the incident. Shockingly, this was not an isolated occurrence, as the report indicated that the second-in-command had also been observed sleeping during a previous flight.
During the flight in question, the pilot-in-command had requested permission to rest, prompting the second-in-command to assume control of the aircraft. Approximately 90 minutes into the flight, the second-in-command unintentionally dozed off, compounding the alarming situation.
