Introductory press conference date for Patriots coach Mike Vrabel revealed

The New England Patriots will introduce Mike Vrabel as their new head coach at 12 p.m. ET on Monday, per a post on the team’s social media account.

Vrabel will be the 16th head coach in Patriots history and the second coach in as many seasons for the organization. He was a former player under Bill Belichick. He played for the team from 2001-2008 and won three Super Bowls during that run.

Vrabel was thought to be a leading candidate for the position. Things moved fast with him interviewing with the team less than a week after they fired Jerod Mayo.

They also interviewed Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.

Vrabel will be walking into a unique opportunity with the Patriots. He will have the chance to build a team around a promising young quarterback in Drake Maye. The organization will also have $130 million in cap space and the No. 4 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft to work with in the offseason.
