Interview with Aldershot Town Football Club’s manager goes viral for being pure David Brent

Aldershot Town manager, Mark Molesley has left fans in stitches after giving some bizarre, David Brent-inspired answers during a pre-match interview.

Before kick-off at home against Bromley in the fourth round of the FA Trophy on January 15th, Molesley was asked a pretty typical question: “What are your thoughts ahead of the game?

To which he decided to have some fun and pull the leg of the reporter and fans with his not-so-typical responses, and asked: “If a tree falls and nobody is there to hear it fall, does it make a noise?”

The 40-year-old had some further random questions of his own as he continued:

“Does a penguin get cold? What way does your bath water go, clockwise or anti-clockwise when you pull the plug out? You know, these are questions that are going to be asked of us and the questions we need the answers to.

“We’re always looking for solutions and need to solve the equation sometimes.”

He then moved on to a more pressing issue... haircuts.

“Sam’s had a lovely haircut, it’s started to grow out now. Coops is here now, working silently away. Robbie’s over there, the first time he’s been quiet today.

“Terry’s brought a briefcase in. He’s got four Japanese talking dogs in there. This is what we work with and we’ll continue to work hard.”

Japanse talking dogs? Clearly, the gaffer was having too much fun with this wind-up.

The exchange was posted on Twitter by Sky Sports, who tweeted: “Arguably the strangest pre-match interview of all time by Aldershot manager Mark Molesley.”

Soon, the interview went viral and it’s fair to say people loved it as Molesley’s strange responses gained him some new fans.

In the end, Aldershot lost 2-0 against Bromley so it means they are out of the FA Trophy. But if it’s any consolation, some have described Molesley’s interview as the “greatest football interview ever.”
