Internet star LadBaby's B&M 'genius' heatwave hack to keep yourself cool for £15

With a sweltering heatwave forecast for the UK and an amber warning issued by the Met Office for extreme heat in parts of the North East, we are all looking for inventive ways to keep cool in the scorching summer weather . And one social media star has resorted to a somewhat unconventional method to deal with the heat.

TikTok star Mark Hoyle of @ladbabyofficial posted a clip that has since gone viral on the platform after sharing what he described as an “absolute genius” method of keeping cool. “This is your bedroom heat summer hack,” Mark announced in the clip, before heading into a B&M store and coming out brandishing a mystery bag.

The video soon revealed that he had bought cooling mats - designed for dogs. Pet cooling mats are made to give our four-legged friends somewhere cool to lie down in the summer, with most typed filled with a gel that automatically chills without the use of water or electricity - but LadBaby, who has scored four consecutive Christmas number one singles since 2018, showed that the mats aren’t just ideal for dogs, The Mirror reports .

Mark put the cooling mats , which are priced at £15 from B&M, in bed for him and his wife Roxanne to lie on. And although Roxanne was initially left in hysterics by the unconventional method, she soon dubbed the cooling mats “genius” after trying them out and even suggested that they use the mats to sit on during hot car journeys.

“If it’s good enough for dogs, it’s good enough for me and you,” Mark joked. And other social media users have praised the hack after the video racked up 1.7 million views on TikTok and was shared to the official B&M page.

“I bought my dog one, he won’t lie in it so I have,” one person commented. “Great for the menopause [laughing emoji].”

Another person who had tried the method added: “They are brilliant. They work for me because I get too hot at night and it cools me down, I get a good night’s sleep.”

“My daughter has my dog’s cool mat under her bottom sheet in the summer,” a third person said.
