Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has again stirred controversy on X; this time, by suggesting there is "no way to repay" the Jan. 6 Capitol rioters for what they have endured.
During an appearance on "The Benny Show" podcast, which describes itself as a source for breaking news and raw commentary, host Benny Johnson asked Greene what justice looks like for Jan. 6 insurrectionists.
"Benny, there's no way to repay these people for what they've been through. People have committed suicide. Matthew Perna committed suicide along with multiple other Jan. 6 defendants awaiting trial," Greene responded.
"Families have been broken up. Marriages have been dissolved in divorce. Kids have lost years with their parents. There's no way to pay that back," she continued.
Greene doubled down on her comments in an accompanying X post.

Greene also attacked politicians who used their position to "hunt down people," including D.C. U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, who stepped down from his position last month, and Jan. 6 Committee members Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson.
"We should look at him with possible criminal referrals," Greene floated.
While it's unclear how many rioters have died by suicide, in addition to Perna, at least four responding officers have since Jan. 6, 2021.
X users mocked Greene for her comments defending Jan. 6 rioters.

"Care to explain why any convicted J6 individuals should be repaid? Here's a novel idea! How about people start taking responsibility for their actions! Even if no violence or damage was committed, trespassing is still a crime! And put the blame right at the feet of your idol," another added.
