The Jacksonville Jaguars’ search for their next general manager is underway, and included will be an internal candidate.
New Jaguars’ Executive Vice President of Football Operations Tony Boselli appeared on the 1010XL’s ‘The Drill’ earlier this week and mentioned that Ethan Waugh will get the chance to interview for the GM opening.
Waugh was the team’s assistant general manager under Trent Baalke and has been operating as the interim general manger since the Jaguars moved on from Baalke a few weeks ago.
“So obviously we’re very early in the process. We’re just getting going. Ethan Waugh right now is the interim GM. He is doing a heck of job,” Boselli said.
“I’ve been super impressed with him. He’ll have a chance to interview in the process and we will see where we end up in the end. But right now we are just kicking it off and getting going.”
Along with Waugh, the Jaguars have requested to interview seven external candidates–although Tampa Bay’s assistant general manager Mike Greenberg has withdrawn his name from consideration.
As of now, those in the mix for this opening in addition to Waugh include:
– Ian Cunningham, Bears assistant GM
– Chad Alexander, Chargers assistant GM
– Trey Brown, Bengals senior personnel executive
– Brandon Brown, Giants assistant GM
– James Gladston, Rams Director of Scouting
– Josh Williams, 49ers Director of Scouting and Football Operations
The search for the Jaguars’ next general manger is being conducted by Boselli, owner Shad Khan, and head coach Liam Coen.
