Interiors expert shares easy way to make a homemade Christmas tree skirt in 15 minutes

Christmas is fast approaching and millions of people will be running around to find the best tree to decorate in their homes in the coming days. To help you save some money this Christmas, one interior design expert has revealed a neat hack for crafting your own homemade Christmas tree skirt, to hide the unsightly tree trunk or stand.

All you need is a wicker storage box, a tape measure and some wire cutters and your tree will look the part in a quarter of an hour.

Ryan McDonough, interior design expert at MyJobQuote, has shared the simple method which involves using a wicker storage box and turning it into a skirt for your Christmas tree to give it a beautifully designed base.

It's likely that you'll have a wicker box already at home, but if not, you can pick them up for as little as £6 from the likes of B&Q and Wilko.

To get going with this simple hack, simply start by measuring your tree stand to make sure the storage box will cover the legs before you cut into it.

Then, when you have checked the storage box will fit around the base of your tree, you need to remove the base of the storage box. This is where the wire cutters will come in handy as they will be easier to use with a wicker box.

Now you have made your DIY wicker Christmas tree skirt, don't forget to place the tree stand into it when you are putting your tree up.

If your tree is already up then be sure to ask someone to help you to lift it into the wicker skirt as they can be quite heavy for just one person to carry.

Ryan McDonough, Interior Design expert at MyJobQuote explains: "Wicker Christmas tree stands are one of the biggest decoration trends for the festive season this year.

"To save some money this Christmas, if you already have wicker storage baskets around your house, try making your own tree skirt.

"For this hack you don't need to be an experienced DIYer, all you need is a tape measure and wire cutters, and it should only take fifteen minutes!"
