
The interim US attorney for Washington, DC, appointed by former President Donald Trump, has announced the launch of an investigation targeting individuals who threaten the president or his political allies. In an internal email obtained by a source, prosecutor Ed Martin revealed the initiation of 'Operation Whirlwind' aimed at safeguarding federal workers.
Martin specifically mentioned Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as a potential subject of scrutiny due to allegations that Schumer led a rally targeting US Supreme Court justices. The email also highlighted the investigation of individuals who threatened those involved in freeing the January 6 prisoners and Elon Musk's government efficiency team.
In the email, Martin emphasized the importance of protecting government employees, including law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and other staff members, from threats against the nation. He underscored the need to ensure a safe working environment for all federal workers.


This latest move by Martin follows his recent appointment as interim US attorney in DC. Former President Trump has nominated Martin to assume the position permanently, pending Senate approval. Trump has previously expressed dissatisfaction with Schumer's remarks from 2020, stating that Schumer 'must pay a severe price' for his comments.
During a rally supporting abortion rights outside the Supreme Court, Schumer was quoted as saying, 'I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.' Schumer later expressed regret for his choice of words but denied making any threats.
