Inter vs Arsenal: Alcohol Banned in Milan ahead of UCL Clash

Arsenal fans visiting Milan for the Champions League clash against Inter Milan on Wednesday will encounter a strict alcohol ban, as Italian authorities aim to prevent potential disturbances linked to public drinking.

Milan has imposed an alcohol sales restriction in some of its busiest areas, including the popular Centro tourist hub, where the sale of alcohol will be halted between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on game day.

Surrounding areas will also see an all-day prohibition on alcohol sales, impacting various neighbourhoods in the lead-up to the match.

Milan Cracks Down on Alcohol Sales For Arsenal Match

The decision to limit alcohol access comes as Milan officials prepare for the arrival of thousands of travelling Arsenal fans.

Prefect Claudio Sgaraglia announced the alcohol ban on the Italian Government’s website, stating that the move is intended to “ensure the safety of the event and prevent possible disturbances of public order due to alcohol abuse.”

Additionally, takeaway outlets will not be allowed to serve alcohol in glass or plastic cups, a measure aimed at curbing public drinking and reducing potential safety risks.

The restriction is part of a broader Italian initiative to manage crowd behaviour at high-profile sports events.

Arsenal supporters faced similar limitations during their recent away match against Atalanta in Bergamo, where local authorities designated specific drinking zones monitored by police.

However, no similar arrangements have been offered in Milan, meaning fans will need to plan accordingly.

Arsenal’s Strong European Start and Travelling Support

Arsenal is expected to sell out their full allocation of 4,361 tickets for the match at San Siro, as Gunners fans continue to follow the team in strong numbers throughout Europe.

Mikel Arteta’s side have enjoyed a promising start to their Champions League campaign, collecting seven points from their first three matches.

However, with Inter also having secured seven points thus far, Wednesday’s game promises to be a challenging contest for both sides.
