Inter 1-0 Arsenal Champions League Highlights: Gunners Beaten In Milan

Arsenal were left frustrated in Milan as Inter ran away 1-0 winners on the night thanks to Hakan Calhanoglu’s first-half penalty.

Mikel Merino’s handball inside the area on the stroke of the interval gave Calhanoglu the opportunity to bag his second goal of the Champions League campaign so far.

Arsenal were kept at bay by the Italians despite dominating the ball with 61% possession and 17 shots to Inter’s seven.

The Gunners find themselves outside of the top-eight place needed to secure an automatic spot in the round of 16 with two wins, a draw and a loss in four games.

Arteta’s men were beaten 1-0 for the second outing in a row following a defeat to Newcastle in the Premier League last weekend.

WATCH: Inter 1-0 Arsenal Highlights

According to the best football betting sites, Arsenal have the third-shortest odds alongside Liverpool and Barcelona at 7/1 to win the Champions League.

That trio trail only Manchester City and Real Madrid in the market – and the Londoners are still 2/7 to finish in the top eight at the end of the league phase.

In 2024, Arsenal have scored zero goals in four defeats away from home in this competition – something to look out for when we hit the knockout stages perhaps, are they as strong on the road?

Arteta’s side are in a bit of a slump at the minute, which all top teams find themselves in at some point, but there’s still plenty of time to right those wrongs and improve as the season goes.

Kai Havertz was substituted with a nasty head injury in added time and that could be another costly blow for the club if he is to miss a game or more.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Arsenal who will now travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League, looking to continue a six-year-long unbeaten run in west London.
