'Instead of criticising' - Sadio Mane makes Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar admission

Liverpool star Sadio Mane admits there are 'values in football that irritate him' and that he prefers to distance himself from the glamourous lifestyle.

The 29-year-old has scored 14 goals for the Reds in all competitions so far this season and lifted the Africa Cup of Nations trophy with Senegal earlier this year.

Mane was born and raised in the remote village of Bambali in his home nation and he has previously donated money and resources to help improve the lives of locals.

The Liverpool winger says he follows the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar on social media, but that he simply admires from afar.

"I follow them on social networks and that's enough. I love the incredible life they lead, but I don't think it's for me," he said in a recent interview with L'Equipe.

"I don't want to give the impression that I'm a very critical person, but it's true that there are values in football that irritate me a little compared to the upbringing I had.

"But instead of criticising, I prefer to distance myself. The main thing is not to change, and I believe I didn't.

"For a boy who comes from a small town, it's a great victory."

Adored in Senegal, Mane will have a stadium named after him in the south-western city of Sedhiou, according to reports.

This comes after their maiden AFCON title earlier this year, in which Mane scored the winning penalty in the final against Mohamed Salah's Egypt.

But the forward's ambitions don't stop there, as he dreams of lifting the World Cup with his home nation.

"[Win] the World Cup with Senegal," Mane continued, when asked what his biggest dream in the game is.

"First you have to guarantee qualification, but I want to believe in crazy projects, and winning the competition with my country is one of them. Gold every year."
