The Jacksonville Jaguars spent their next to last pick (No. 197) from the 2022 NFL Draft on Ouachita Baptist cornerback Gregory Junior. The Jaguars also made Junior the first player drafted from Ouachita Baptist.
NFL.com reports that Junior made 46 tackles, three of them for a loss and seven pass breakups in 11 starts. Lance Zierlein writes that he is a developmental defensive back with size, speed, and fluidity but his technique and field awareness could be stumbling blocks early in his career. He projects that Junior will be an early special-teams worker that is picked on Day 3.
Relative Athletic Score gave him a grade of 8.87 out of 10. They said he recorded 18 reps in the bench press, a 39.5-inch vertical jump, and a 4.46 in the 40-yard dash.
Jaguars fans shouldn’t expect Junior to see the field much in 2022 besides on special teams. He could see snaps at cornerback if injuries pile up in Jacksonville’s secondary.
