Instant analysis and grade for Titans selecting LB Chance Campbell

Barring any trades, we have finally reached the conclusion of the 2022 NFL draft as far as the Tennessee Titans’ picks go. With their final selection (No. 219), the Titans selected Ole Miss linebacker, Chance Campbell.

Campbell was a productive linebacker throughout the duration of his collegiate career in which he spent three seasons at Maryland before transferring to Mississippi before the 2021 season.

In total, he accumulated 216 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles at both Maryland and Ole Miss. In his only season as a Rebel, Campbell accounted for 109 total tackles (fifth-most in the SEC).

The Ole Miss product is big, strong, and physical, but his lack of athleticism and functional speed can cause issues for him when defending against superb and elusive athletes.

Campbell is also not afraid to bang between the tackles and does a nice job of locating the football when playing the run.

However, if the rookie linebacker ever wants to become more than just a special teams contributor, he will need to drastically improve his coverage abilities.

I would have personally liked to see them add another offensive prospect to the team, but Campbell should at least be able to carve out a role on special teams, so I will give this pick a slightly above-average grade despite not being my personal preference.

Grade: C+
