Hull glazing specialist EYG has been recognised as one of the best installers in the UK.
The long-standing company won an industry award for Best Conservatory or Orangery under £35,000, having stepped into rescue an East Yorkshire resident’s nightmare home improvement project. Darren Kendrew had already paid out more than £11,500 to two separate building firms who both went bust - losing his money in the process - before contacting EYG.
The Wiltshire Road firm stepped in to rescue the plan on a depleted budget, and built a new conservatory which had the same effect and impact as the original plan. Award judges at the Glass and Glazing Products Installer Awards 2023 described it as “outstanding”.

Sales and marketing director John Waugh accepted the award. He said: “We are so thrilled to receive this award, in recognition of the quality and workmanship of our installations.
“This is our 52nd year in business, and we are always striving and innovating to bring new products and designs to the market. Our conservatory and orangery range is, we believe, among the best you can buy, and this award is testament to what we have achieved as a business - it is a huge honour.”
Mr Kendrew contributed a testimony for the entry. He said: “We are delighted with the finished conservatory, the EYG team were also brilliant throughout.
“From the initial meeting with sales manager Jeremey, he understood the circumstances, and the loss we had already seen on our finances towards the project of our dreams, due to the building contractors failing to deliver the initial project.
“Whilst we were unable to progress with our initial extension, Jeremey worked closely with us to provide a solution for both our dreams, delivering a design which would make our home more comfortable both in winter and summer, whilst ensuring our project was tailored to our budget.”
The winners were announced at an awards dinner at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, which was hosted by Eastenders actress and Strictly star Nina Wadia.
EYG’s managing director, Nick Ward, said: “This award is a great achievement and really means a lot to us. It is recognition of the hard work we put in to design and build top-of-the-range conservatories and orangeries.
“We have been in business for over five decades but we are never complacent about our success, and strive to be market leaders. This award is recognition and confirmation that we truly are among the best in the UK for what we do.”
Last year it entered the garden rooms market, while winning major contracts with regional housebuilder Beal.
