Instagram model raises £230k for Australian wildfires fund by selling nude pics

An Instagram model has raised more than £230,000 to help tackle the Australian bushfires by selling nudes of herself.

On Saturday Kaylen Ward posted on Twitter that she would send a naked photo to every person who donated $10 (£7.60) to fundraisers for the Australian bushfires.

The offer blew up, with thousands of people emailing in confirmation of their donation to organisations including NSW Rural Fire Service, Victorian Country Fire Service, Red Cross, and a handful of koala hospitals.

In less than a day £230,000 had been raised, with the Texan model struggling to process the tidal wave of messages she was receiving.

The racy fundrasing drive hasn't gone down completely smoothly however.

According to a post on Kaylen's Twitter feed she has been 'disowned' by her family for the stunt.

Despite the scheme being devised and run on Twitter, she claimed her Instagram account has been shut down due to a violation of the site's guidelines.

Kaylen, who has 50,000 followers on Instagram and has rebranded herself as The Naked Philanthropist, said it was worth it to 'save the Koalas'.

She said: "It's devastating and any normal person would be concerned and want to help.

"I saw so much media coverage about other things happening in the world, like when Notre Dame burned down and lots of people were posting and donating, but I didn't see a lot of people doing that for Australia.

"Someone sent me $5,000, so I'm sending 50 pics and videos.

"My IG got deactivated, my family disowned me, and the guy I like won’t talk to me all because of that tweet.

"But f*** it, save the koalas."

Some people have attempted to scupper Kaylen's plans by sending out the nude-selfie for free.

"People that have donated are offering my nudes for free to those who haven’t," she raged online.

"Honestly y’all are so sick and you’re about to ruin it for everyone."

"When I first started I was nervous, super anxious. But five minutes later, my inbox was flooded and those thoughts went out the window."
