Popular 'healthy fast food' restaurant and takeaway PICNIC is set to expand with another venue in Merseyside.
The independent Liverpool business describes itself as a 'beautiful in-between' where you can indulge in your fast food favourites without the guilt. With a varied menu, PICNIC offers an array of different foods from salads to wholemeal wraps, burrito bowls, fresh pressed juices and raw vegan treats.
It originally started as a pop-up and delivery food service in 2017. The brand then opened its own restaurant on Smithdown Road back in 2019.

PICNIC has always promised that 80% of its menu is vegetarian or vegan, with all of its takeaway packaging fully biodegradable or compostable. The popular restaurant often shares mouth-watering images of its food to its 18k followers on Instagram, who all received the news last week.
Sharing the news of a new venue in West Derby Village, the post read: “FINALLY! PICNIC number two is located in the heart of West Derby Village! We have been on mission ‘shop number two’ for the last year; exploring every potential site available in Liverpool and beyond. But something kept calling us back to West Derby."
“Our target with this new venture is to re-create what we fell in love with at our Smithdown store; a neighbourhood establishment that provides healthier fast food to sit in, take away and be delivered. Fast, good value for money and good for you!”
The restaurant went on to explain how its Smithdown branch had been "working at max capacity at peak times". Now, it promises to "increase availability on delivery and takeaway times" and "reduce the waiting time by 30-40%."
Among the comments, one PICNIC fan said: "Love all the independent businesses in West Derby. Another fab addition [loveheart eye emoji] can't wait [smile emoji] lovely news well done & welcome to west derby [smile emoji]."
A second comment tagged their friend and said: "healthy food on our doorstep! Xx [loveheart emoji]."
A third comment read: “Well done. The best food about [loveheart eye emoji] @picnicliverpool.”
Works on the new branch are said to have started. An opening date is yet to be announced.
