'Inspirational' Midlothian mental health teams praised by local councillor

The work of mental health teams in Midlothian has been hailed as 'inspirational' by a local councillor.

Connor McManus, Midlothian Council's cabinet member for health and social care, praised the work of staff after visiting Midlothian's mental health, justice, and substance use services at their Number 11 base in Dalkeith.

Midspace services have been accessed online by nearly 15,000 Midlothian residents with a further 723 accessing them through social media and hundreds more engaged through their newsletter.

The services operate a 'no wrong door approach' ensuring people who come into one area of support and are then identified as needing other health and well being support can receive all the services together in one collaborative package.

Councillor McManus said: "During my visit, I was able to witness first-hand the incredible work that the staff is doing to support some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community.

"I had the pleasure of meeting with Number 11 staff, and I was truly impressed by their dedication, compassion, and commitment to providing high-quality care and support to those in need.

"The staff at Number 11 work tirelessly to help people with complex mental health and wellbeing, justice, and substance use issues, and their work is truly inspiring.

"It is important to acknowledge the crucial role that mental health, justice, and substance use services play in our society.

"These services are vital in addressing the complex challenges that people face, and they provide invaluable support to those who need it most."
