Inspirational Ella Green has wrapped up an amazing year with a big-hearted gesture that her dad William says sums up his little girl and her amazing spirit.
The schoolgirl had been confined to a wheelchair after she was diagnosed with the rare condition of arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) as a baby but finally managed to take her first steps last Christmas thanks to pioneering surgery in Poland.
It has been dad William’s dream to see his daughter walk and be able to take part in all the same fun festive experiences as her peers.
Amazing Ella, who stays in Broxburn with her dad, has been meeting Santa and performed at her school, as beaming William looked on.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Ella has been writing Christmas cards for neighbours and donated her pocket money to the Scottish SPCA.
William said: “She has such a golden heart.
“I give her £5 pocket each week to help her to learn the value of it.
“We took our dog to the vet as he had an infection in his paw. Costly but he’s now on the mend.
“While in Pets at Home we met a lady called Elizabeth. While talking to her she told Ella she was collecting donations for the SPCA.
“Ella instantly wanted to give the woman her £5 pocket money. I’m honestly so proud of her.
“It cost me a polar bear toy, but it was Ella’s morale that really touched my heart.
“Afterwards we filled out 26 Christmas cards and went round all our neighbours and kept the Christmas spirit alive.
“Kindness has been shown to us throughout Ella’s journey and a card goes a long way - I made a small donation to the NSPCC for the cards, every little counts.”
William said he can’t believe how far his little girl as come.
Ella lost her mum Catherine in March last year and he said he knows she’s looking down on her daughter full of pride.
William continued: “She’s coming on so well. AMC is our life, so we embrace it instead of shying away from it.
“Thank you to the people who message with advice about AMC and for people who need help or struggling please, message me, know how it feels and you’re not alone!”
