Amorini Antiques Centre in Wirral is a huge building crammed with fascinating vintage items, including tea sets, jewellery, toys, books and much more.
This was my first time visiting the store which is in the heart of Birkenhead and has three floors and 10 rooms. I love exploring antique shops and car boot sales to see what hidden gems I can find, and it’s safe to say I uncovered a fair few at Amorini Antiques.
When I visited on a Wednesday afternoon, I was amazed as soon as I stepped through the door at the amount of antique items around me - and that was just the first room. There were a few other people already perusing the shelves and the lady behind the counter warmly welcomed me.

I wanted to make sure I saw everything, including the Print Museum that’s situated in the store, so I spent a good hour and a half at Amorini Antiques, although I could have spent all day exploring. During my time there, I came across tea sets, ornaments, toys, books, cameras, music, football memorabilia, military weapons, paintings and more.
Some of my favourite finds were in the cabinets containing vintage tea sets. I found a lovely Shelley collection consisting of cups and saucers and a teapot in a stunning pink and yellow floral design for £160. Another set which caught my eye was a 36-piece Art Deco Adderley tea set priced at £158.
I was delighted to find a couple of “old” cameras, including a Polaroid, but I think my favourite sections of Amorini Antiques Centre had to be the toys and the football memorabilia. I felt like a child again looking at the toy cars and teddy bears, and as an Everton fan, I could have spent hours flicking through the huge pile of EFC football programmes (starting from £2 each) from the last few decades.
Prices at antique shops vary depending on what products and vintage styles are 'in' at the moment, so it can be hard to estimate how much antiques can set you back and whether you’re paying the right price. As Amorini Antiques has many dealers and sellers under one roof, I felt confident shopping there knowing I wouldn’t be ripped off.
If you love antiques and are wanting to get your hands on some vintage hidden gems, taking a trip to Amorini Antiques Centre should certainly be on your to-do list. It’s open Monday to Sunday (including bank holidays) from 10am to 5pm and can be found at 1 Hamilton Street, Birkenhead, CH41 6DJ. The shop also buys antiques, so if you’re looking to sell, the contact details can be found on the website here.
