Inside Tottenham’s dressing room after Marseille comeback: Burna Boy, Harry Kane’s dancing and Romero tribute

Harry Kane led the dressing room celebrations after Tottenham completed their thrilling Champions League comeback against Marseille on Tuesday night.

Amid jubilant scenes in the Stade Velodrome, Kane danced to Burna Boy with team-mates Emerson Royal and Yves Bissouma before aiming a little dig at Marseille.

“Full time fireworks”, tweeted the England captain, in relation to the Spurs squad being woken up by fireworks outside their hotel in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Players and staff joined Kane in the celebrations as Three Little Birds by Bob Marley blaring out of the speakers in the away dressing room.

The squad gathered for a group photo and, despite suffering a head injury and being forced off in the first half, Heung-min Son was among the celebrations, although the South Korean’s left eye was almost closed shut due to the swelling around it.

Lucas Moura and Bissouma wrapped their shirts around their heads and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg stripped down his briefs as the Spurs players savoured a brilliant win.

While captain Hugo Lloris and Clement Lenglet gathered their thoughts for an interview on BT Sport, assistant coach Cristian Stellini embraced the players on a famous night in France.

There was also a nod to Cristian Romero, the defender who missed the game through injury but had his shirt held up in the dressing room by Royal, Moura, Bryan Gil, Davinson Sanchez and Rodrigo Bentancur for an Instagram post.

Tottenham secured top spot in Group D after coming from behind to beat Marseille 2-1.

The scenes at full-time were in stark contrast to the away dressing room at half-time, when Spurs were trailing 1-0 and heading out of the Champions League.

Stellini revealed after the game that he was inspired by absent manager Antonio Conte as he gave a rousing half-time speech to the players before their second-half comeback.

“I came in the dressing room and was thinking, ‘What would Antonio say now?’,” he said.

“And I did, with all my energy. And we are here to celebrate. So thanks to Antonio because I learned a lot of lessons from him and this evening I used them.”
