Inside the UK's top service station just outside Bristol

A service station near Bristol has been named one of the top three service stops in the UK. According to a survey by ChooseMyCar.com, Gordano Service Station, off the M5 at junction 19, came second only to Beaconsfield services, located off the M40 in Buckinghamshire.

One of the reasons why Gordano was rated so highly was due to the high number of electric vehicle charging points - 37 - which highlighted its potential for the future. What's more, Gordano boasts the fourth highest number of parking spaces in the list - 510 - as well as two hours of free parking time and even dog walking facilities.

Service stations across the country were ranked using a criteria of various 'attractive elements', such as availability of electric vehicle charging points, price of fuel, variety of restaurants and whether dog walking is available. While top spot Beaconsfield had a total of 16 restaurants and coffee shops on site in total, Gordano was close behind with 13.

Price of petrol here was listed as £169.9p, the joint second lowest in the list. ChooseMyCar founder, Nick Zapolski, said: "With summer coming up, many of us will be hitting the motorways to get to our holidays across the UK.

“Motorway services have become a godsend on long road trips, with many now offering far more than the traditional toilets and fuel stations. A modern service station will offer electric vehicle charging points, a huge variety of refreshment options – and even somewhere for our pooches to relieve themselves too.

“It’s reassuring to know we can have a break on long trips – especially if you’re travelling with kids and pets – and even more reassuring to know that so many of our motorway services have just fantastic facilities. Hopefully our list highlights some of the best – so you can plan where to stop when you take your trips this summer.”
