Inside the new book that captures the changing faces of our world

Last year, Portrait of Britain became the largest-ever contemporary portrait photography exhibition to go on show across the UK. Now, it's been followed up with a new show and new book called Portrait of Humanity.

1854 Media, publisher of British Journal of Photography, in partnership with Magnum Photos, have created Portrait of Humanity which will be published on May 30 this year.

The 200 shortlisted images from photographers around the world have been compiled into the book which 'captures the changing face of our world'.

The top 50 winning images will now travel the world as part of a touring exhibition, and will stop at museums, galleries and international photography festivals.

The exhibition will visit Croatia, Australia, the US and Nigeria - but no UK date has been announced as yet.

The website states that Portrait of Humanity is the next 'evolutionary' step for Portrait of Britain and that "we will show how our differences unite us on a global scale".

You can view a selection of the images in the gallery above and pre-order the book here for £22.95.
