Inside the Met Gala afterparties as Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Cardi B let loose

The stars took to the red carpet yesterday evening for the Met Gala.

Weighing in at $30,000 for a ticket, they donned some of best finery on offer in the fashion world for the cameras.

After the main event, many changed into something a little more comfortable to continue the fashion festivities into the evening.

Celebs including Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Cardi B were all eager to let their hair down as they hopped between different afterparties after fashion's biggest night of the year.

Kendall and Hailey were snapped relaxing on a sofa after changing into evening attire, grabbing a moment to catch their breath before hitting the parties.

Hailey was also spotted scrolling through her phone, perhaps to check if she had made any of the best dressed lists at the gala.

She had made a splash on the red carpet earlier in the evening, arriving in an incredible Yves Saint Laurent white gown and a feather trimmed coat.

But the 25-year-old model changed out of this for the evening hosted at Zero Bond, opting for a pair of leather hot pants and a bralet.

Kendall had changed out of the incredible Prada gown she had worn for the gala into a sheer lace co-ord.

With several afterparties being thrown across the city, hosts went all out to keep their celebrity guests entertained throughout the evening.

Brit Cara Delevingne was one of many to party into the night, being snapped looking a little worse for wear later in the evening.

Designer LaQuan Smith put on a spread of burgers from Popeyes for party-goers to eat while they partied the night away.

Meanwhile, at her own afterparty Cardi B showed no signs of tiring, dancing on the tables late into the evening.

The Met Gala is widely considered to be the biggest night in the fashion calendar.

Each year has a set theme, with this year's being a tribute to the "gilded glamour", the second of a two-part series of themes since the gala restarted after the pandemic.

Part one of the exhibition was called In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, and aimed to celebrate all things American Fashion.

The event normally draws plays host to around 600 celebrities, however this year the numbers were closer to 400.

Editor-in-chief of Vogue Anna Wintour reprised her position overseeing the gala, a role she has carried out since 1995.

This year's hosts are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Regina King, who are taking over from Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka.

The Met Gala is traditionally hosted on the first Monday of May, with tickets to fashion's biggest night of the year are rumoured to cost as much as $35,000 each, and a table setting guests back between $200,000 and $300,000.

Last year's gala raised an impressive $16.4 million for the Met's Costume Institute.
