Wales' first drive-thru Greggs has opened in Newport.
The new store has opened in Port Road, Maesglas, opposite 28 East Retail Park, creating 22 jobs. It is the on-the-go retailer’s 12th drive-thru in the UK and the first in Wales following a number of successful pilots in England.
It follows the announcement last March that the company would be opening a new drive-thru in Swansea. That was due to open last summer but has yet to be completed meaning Newport is home to the first Greggs drive-thru in Wales.

As well as driving up to order customers will be able to make click-and-collect orders via the Greggs app. The shop’s opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 6am to 7pm and Sunday 7am to 5pm.
WalesOnline went to check out the first-of-its-kind store in Wales on its opening day on Monday and it looks impressive.
Complete with wireless charging points, outdoor seating, and those all-important drive-through windows the store was busy with a queue of cars as people sampled the offer straightaway.
Shop manager Gavin Window said: “We can’t wait to welcome both Greggs fans and new customers to our brand-new shop. We’ve got an amazing range of tasty bakes, hot drinks, sweet treats, and savouries available for takeaway or click and collect.”
Roisin Currie, retail and property director for Greggs, said: “Our new drive-thru in Wales has brought 22 new jobs to Newport as well as providing customers with a modern, convenient new place to experience their favourite Greggs food.”
