Despite house prices rising again for yet another consecutive month, it is still possible to find a home for a bargain price if you know where to look. In one of Greater Manchester's more affordable areas, Bolton, there are a range of properties selling for much less than the average house price.
A two-bedroom house in Tonge is currently the cheapest of them all, with a guide price of £15,000 making it the lowest priced home in the region. It is a rarity to see properties as cheap as this on the market these days, but as you can probably guess from the price tag, it needs quite a bit of work doing to modernise it.
Nevertheless, buying a house on the cheap can give first-time buyers a good chance at getting on the property ladder, can suit a family on a small budget, or make an ideal purchase for an investor looking to buy, renovate and rent it out.

The terraced house on Moorfield Grove in Bolton went up for sale last week and is up for auction next month. With its extremely low guide price, it is expected to attract a lot of attention from keen bidders.
The home is rather spacious inside, boasting a good-sized living room with a fireplace, kitchen and dining room on the ground floor.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one larger and one smaller, as well as a family bathroom with a shower. The home also benefits from having a front and a back garden.
But a quick glance at pictures showing the current state of the home gives the impression that it needs a bit of TLC, therefore it is probably most ideal for someone that is happy to take on a big renovation project. However it does have the potential to make a lovely home.
Situated off Firwood Grove, the property sits half a mile away from Hall-i'-th'-Wood train station and just over a mile from Bolton Station with easy access into Bolton town centre.
Moorgate Primary School and The Olive School, two of the area's 'outstanding' Ofsted-rated schools are also located less than a mile away from the home.
The property is set to be sold via an online auction on Thursday, July 7 with a guide price of £15,000.
Auction house McHugh & Co state: "A guide price is an indication of a seller's minimum expectation at auction and given as a “Guide Price” or a range of “Guide Prices”.
"This is not necessarily the figure a property will sell for and is subject to change prior to the auction. Guide prices will continually be updated on the McHugh & Co website."
