Inside the 'cannabis farm' hidden behind fake living room with Christmas tree

More than 100 cannabis plants have been found hiding behind a fake living room - complete with a TV and Christmas tree. Greater Manchester Police say a British Gas worker made the bizarre discovery on Thursday (December 1) as they tried to read a meter.

Images from inside show how a TV and Christmas tree had been put up near to the front window of the property on Heys Road, Prestwich. But the items were not part of an ordinary living room.

Instead, they had been placed in front of a fake wall, which appears dismantled in the images shared by GMP today (Friday). Officers seized 105 cannabis plants from behind the wall, in what was the latest in a string of 'cannabis farms' being dismantled in Prestwich over recent weeks.

A spokesperson for GMP Bury South wrote on Twitter: "Yesterday police were at a property on Heys Road dismantling a cannabis farm found by British Gas who had entered by warrant to inspect the meter. In all 105 plants were seized.

"Note how Christmas tree and TV had been set up behind fake wall to hide what was behind." The spokesperson added: "This is the fourth such property in Prestwich in the last month.

A TV was also placed near the front window of the Heys Road property (Greater Manchester Police)

"As such a total of approximately 250kg of cannabis plants have been recovered. If you suspect a property is being used for such a purposes information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers."

To contact Crimestoppers call 0800 555 111 or visit the charity's website. Information can also be passed on to GMP online or by calling 101.
