Ross Wilson has revealed the transfer drama surrounding Aaron Ramsey sent a ripple of excitement through the Rangers squad.
The Ibrox sporting director insists the current crop of stars were thrilled by news the Juventus midfielder was on his way to Glasgow.
Ramsey has signed a loan deal with the Premiership champions until the end of the season, with Juve prepared to shoulder much of the financial burden.
Wilson reiterated that any signing must fit within the club's financial structure, but confesses he too was buoyed by just how much the 31-year-old wanted the transfer.
"Aaron is a player that needs no introduction to football fans or Rangers fans anywhere," Wilson told Rangers TV.
"I could sense yesterday, when news started to break that the playing squad here were excited - which is important as well, we want the existing players here to be excited by what we're doing in the transfer market.
"It was something I'd been working on quietly for probably around a week, along with Aaron's agents, speaking to Aaron and, of course, the co-operation of Juventus.
"Because for any player that joins us, as much as we want to be excited about all of them, they've got to fit into the financial structure that we work to here at Rangers.
"In Aaron's case, Juventus totally understood that Aaron's desire was to come here and be a Rangers player.
"I don't think you have the level of career that Aaron has experienced without being in-demand across Europe and across English football, where he's made such a name for himself already.
"I'm definitely pleased that Aaron was so excited about coming to Rangers and Juventus totally got that as well.
"They co-operated with us wholly to make sure we could actually make this deal happen."
