Inside the £42,000 bungalow with stomach-churning bathroom and ban on viewings

A quaint bungalow in the West Midlands has gone on the market for just £42,000, but the attractive price comes with a catch - there's a stomach-churning secret in the bathroom, and you're banned from actually viewing the property.

The one-bedroom home is based in a popular residential estate in Ryecroft, Walsall, and although it's ideally placed for the school run, the property is a major restoration job with every room - and even the exterior - in need of refurbishment.

Prospective buyers are banned from viewing the property in person due to the condition of the interior, which includes holes in the floor and ceiling, as well as boarded-up windows.

The bathroom looks like a scene from Trainspotting (Auction House Birmingham / SWNS)

But by far the worst room in the bungalow is the bathroom, which is shown in photographs to be completely unusable - with a disgusting-looking toilet taped off with a "do not use" warning, and even a missing sink.

Further red and white tape can be seen blocking the entrance to another grotty room attached to a post and a wheelie bin.

The bungalow has been described by estate agents as an "ideal investment opportunity" for the right buyer, although Auction House Birmingham and Black Country has warned those interested to think about the sheer scale of the job in front of them if they part with the £42,000 asking price.

The online listing reads: "This one-bedroom semi-detached bungalow is situated in the highly popular residential estate of Ryecroft in Walsall.

"An ideal Investment opportunity but in need of complete refurbishment, within walking distance of shops and bus routes and having all amenities close by.

Another room is also cordoned off with red tape (Auction House Birmingham / SWNS)

"Due to the condition of the property, there will be no internal viewings of this lot."

After the listing was shared on social media, several people commented on the state of the bathroom, with some saying it reminded them of the iconic "worst toilet in Scotland" scene from Danny Boyle's 1996 film Trainspotting.

One person said: "Beyond the Trainspotting-style toilet, which is just grim you could add a bit of value to that with a bit of work."

While another added: "You can expect to see Renton popping up from that toilet at any moment."

The property will be sold at an auction held at Walsall Football Club next Thursday, April 20.
