Inside Tammy Slaton and Caleb Willingham's whirlwind romance before tragic end

Tammy Slaton is grieving the loss of her ex-husband Caleb Willingham after he sadly died at the age of 40.

The 1000-lb Sisters star, 36, has remembered Caleb as her "guardian angel" and thanked him for showing her "real love" in an emotional tribute.

Caleb's death was confirmed by his younger brother on Facebook and it comes just two months after he and Tammy split following a brief romance.

The pair met at a food rehabilitation centre as they worked to overcome their food addiction struggles and soon tied the knot at the facility.

Their romance sadly wasn't meant to be and they split after just five months of marriage, but some reports say Tammy was still in love with her ex.

Here's everything you need to know about Tammy and Caleb's whirlwind romance.

How did they meet?

Tammy Slaton spent 14 months at an Ohio weight loss facility as she worked to overcome her food addiction struggles.

While at the centre, the TLC reality star managed to not only shed 300lb (21.4 stone), but she also found love with Caleb Willingham.

Caleb had been staying at the treatment facility for almost a year before Tammy's arrival.

During an episode of 1000-lb Sisters, she explained he was just "starting to come out of his room 'cause he had health issues."

And Caleb admitted that his best friend's wife had actually found Tammy on social media and she became his inspiration to get serious about his own health.

"Just hearing about how well somebody was able to. I said, 'Hey, I can do this too'," he told Tammy.

Rehab centre wedding

Caleb proposed to Tammy in October 2022 in front of her family and friends.

"So, it's just been a short time, but I know without a doubt you are the most beautiful, amazing wonderful person I've ever known. Will you marry me?," he asked before slipping a ring on Tammy's finger.

The couple then said 'I do' at the Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Centre in Ohio in November that year, with their wedding featuring on a special episode of 1000-lb Sisters.

Tammy opted for a classic white dress which featured ruffled straps and a matching trim. She wore a silver tiara and white veil, adding a long silver necklace to complete her look.

The reality star styled her hair in tight curls and added a sunflower to the back of her hairstyle. She decided to break away from tradition and wore a cute pair of Crocs, which were full of colourful charms.

Tammy's sister Amy Slaton was the maid of honour and gave a gushing speech at the reception.

"You've always been my big sister. We've always been Amy and Tammy, Amy and Tammy, Amy and Tammy, the Slaton sisters," she said.

With Amy's help, Tammy had decorated the reception hall with orange tablecloths and sunflowers dotted around. Her wedding cake was a simple white cake, which was also decorated with bright flowers.

Paying tribute to his beautiful bride, Caleb said: "Tammy's my beautiful princess. She's got her tiara shining, she's got her hair done up, everything looks perfect. She's perfect anyways, but she has that extra glow about her."

Shock split

Despite seeming to be very in love, Tammy and Caleb split after just five months of marriage.

According to reports, Tammy was planning to file for divorce from Caleb after he let his weight loss slip and started gaining weight again.

"Tammy has her legal team lined up and is ready to file for divorce," a source said.

Speaking to The Sun, the source said: "They split up because Caleb hasn't been following his diet in rehab. He has gained 30 pounds and hasn't been working his program."

Another source told the publication Tammy stalled on getting a divorce because she was "scarred" about Caleb's declining health.

Heartbreaking tribute

Following the news of Caleb's death, Tammy took to Instagram to pay tribute to her ex-husband as she thanked him for showing her true love.

"Rip sweet angel you will forever be missed and loved so much thank you Caleb for showing me real love and happiness," Tammy penned in her emotional message.

One person said: "I'm so sorry Tammy. I'm shocked to hear this. I was so touched by his love for you. It was a beautiful thing to see."

Another wrote: "I am sorry for you loss. I know y'all did not want to part ways but you chose yourself first. You did the right thing I know you miss him and love him. I’m so sorry that things ended the way they have."
