Inside Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber's 'feud' as pair share plot twist snap

Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez have dispelled feud rumours after they were pictured together at an event in Los Angeles.

The model and popstar have reportedly been feuding for years after Hailey was first linked to Selena's ex, Justin Bieber, following the couple's final split in 2018.

Hailey then tied the knot to Sorry singer Justin in September 2018, just months after his split with Selena.

Here's a full timeline of Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez' reported feud.

Before Hailey found herself dating Justin, she was a well-known 'Belieber' and Selena Gomez fan, often sharing her thoughts on the couple on Twitter.

Hailey referred to the couple as a "teenage dream" in 2011, adding that the Wizards of Waverly Place actress was "beyond flawless".

However, Hailey was later spotted kissing Justin in 2015, during a period where Selena and Justin were no longer together.

Justin told GQ in 2016: "What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged.

“It’s really hard to fix wounds like that. It’s so hard. … I just don’t want to hurt her.”

He later rekindled things with Selena before they split for the final time in May 2018.

Justin and Selena finally called it quits in May 2018 and he began dating Hailey in June of the same year, marrying the model just three months later.

Selena and Justin were on and off for seven years and the pop singer was said to have been shocked by how quickly her ex moved on.

Lose You To Love Me is released

Shortly after Hailey and Justin's wedding, Selena released her hit ballad Lose You To Love Me after she took a break from music.

Selena said in a statement: "This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one's life."

In the song, Selena seems to make multiple references to her ex, singing, "In two months you replaced us, like it was easy", referencing how quickly Justin moved on with Hailey.

Shortly after the song was released, Hailey shared an Instagram Story listening to I’ll Kill You by Summer Walker and Jhené Aiko.

Fans immediately connected the post to the Selena's latest release, which Hailey later denied.

She said on an Instagram post about the connection: “Please stop with this nonsense… there is no ‘response'."

Selena also referenced her relationship with Justin in other songs on her album Rare, which was released soon after Lose You To Love Me.

Selena calls out her fans over Hailey trolling

Some Selena fans, also known as Selenators, began trolling Hailey following the release of Lose You To Love Me.

Selena soon called out her fans who were causing drama, stating on an Instagram livestream: “I am grateful for the response that the song is getting. I'm so grateful.

“However, I do not stand for women tearing women down and I will never, ever be by that."

Selena then slammed trolls once again after singer Madison Beer - a mutual friend of the pair - was spotted in LA with Hailey.

Fans claimed that the singer had "betrayed" Selena by hanging out with Hailey, in which Selena responded via Instagram: “This is disgusting reading all of this. This wasn’t intentional whatsoever.

“I’m so disappointed that people would speak to someone like this. I have known Madison since she was a baby and watched her continue to become the woman she is. There is no issue.”

Selena said she was a victim of 'emotional abuse'

In an interview with NPR's Lulu Garcia-Navarro, the pop star spoke about how she moved on from Justin.

She said: "I've found the strength in it. It's dangerous to stay in a victim mentality. And I'm not being disrespectful, I do feel I was a victim to certain abuse."

The interviewer then asked Selena if she meant "emotional abuse," and she replied, "Yes."

She added: "I had to find a way to understand it as an adult. And I had to understand the choices I was making. As much as I definitely don't want to spend the rest of my life talking about this, I am really proud that I can say I feel the strongest I've ever felt and I've found a way to just walk through it with as much grace as possible."

Hailey hits back at 'Selena comparisons'

Hailey hit back at trolls on social media who were comparing her to the Rare singer.

In April this year, after a series of Hailey's TikTok videos were bombarded with comments comparing her to her Selena, Hailey took to the platform to address the comparisons.

She said: "Leave me alone at this point.

"I’m minding my business. I don’t do anything, I don’t say anything. Leave me alone, please. Enough time has gone by where it’s valid to leave me alone. I beg of you. Truly. That’s my only request. Be miserable somewhere else, please.”

On May 10, Selena shared a TikTok video of her using her new skincare line, Rare, which is named after her album.

Fans assumed the singer was making fun of her ex's wife, who had posted a similar video earlier that day.

One commenter wrote: "Wait... is she tryna make fun of you know who."

The singer then took to the comments section to assure her followers that she had not been throwing shade.

She said: "This is why I believe in taking care of your mental health.

"Guys no idea what I did but I really am sorry. Zero bad intention. Deleting soon."

The star later disabled the comments on the video.

Hailey addressed the timeline of her relationship with Justin on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast.

On the podcast, she discussed when her and Justin made it official following his split from Selena.

Hailey said: "The only people who really know the truth of the situation and what the timeline really was and how it happened and how it went down are, like, me and him."

Hailey also revealed that she’s spoken to Selena in the years following the couple’s wedding in 2018.

She said: “It’s all respect. It’s all love.

“That’s also why I feel like if everybody on our side knows what happened and we’re good and we could walk away from it with clarity and respect then that’s fine. … Which had brought me a lot of peace and I’m like, ‘We know what happened. It is what it is.’ You’re never going to be able to correct every narrative."

Hailey and Selena performed the ultimate plot twist by cuddling up to one another for a friendly snap as they attended the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ second annual gala in LA on October 15.

The model smiled as she held her drink wearing a revealing brown strapless maxi dress complete with cut-out detailing to the midriff and wrapping her arm around Selena's waist.

Fans took to social media to talk about the 'plot twist' snap, with one commenter writing, "The world is healing", while another wrote, "We are witnessing history everyone".
