Inside Ryan Tubridy's secret afterparty following final Late Late Show

Ryan Tubridy enjoyed a few drinks with close friends and family in the green room after his last Late Late Show - opting not to have a star-studded afterparty, sources have revealed.

The Dubliner enjoyed a low-key send-off backstage after his final Late Late Show after hosting the Friday night chat show for 14 years. An insider revealed Tubs had plans with his family to celebrate his 50th birthday the next day and opted out of a night on the town.

A source told us: “The green room was packed but there was nothing crazy. There was nothing scandalous. I think a lot of his family was there. His birthday was the next day.”

And no elaborate speeches were made in the green room either, with an insider revealing a wrap party had been held between Tubridy and his production team a few weeks previous. “There were no speeches or anything, but they had their own wrap party weeks ago.”

Almost 700,000 tuned into the final Late Late Show on Friday night. It is understood the high profile RTE star headed West for a few days.

And he's already headed West after he was spotted behind the counter of popular Connemara gem The Clifden Bookshop as staff joked that he looked "a little too comfortable" in his new position on Monday. Sharing the photograph on their social media, The Clifden Bookshop explained that they get many customers coming in to their shop asking whether they had Tubridy's book recommendations in stock.

Taking to Facebook on Monday, they posted the picture alongside a caption that read: "If we only had a euro for every time a customer comes in and asks ‘Have you got this book, I heard Ryan Tubridy mention it on the radio the other day?'...Well, we would probably still be independent booksellers BUT it just goes to show, a good recommendation makes all the difference!

"P.S. Is it just us or does he look a little too comfortable behind that counter already….?"

The father-of-two looks set to launch his own podcast. He revealed last week: “I would definitely be looking at the world of podcasts, and docs and history and books for sure.”
