Inside Rosanna Davison's childhood home as sale price of Chris de Burgh's Wicklow mansion slashed

The "exquisite" eight-bedroom home where Rosanna Davison grew up has had its sale price cut by more than 20% in a bid to attract buyers.

Her dad Chris de Burgh put Bushey Park in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow on the market in June 2019 for €12.5 million.

But this week, the asking price of the Georgian mansion was reduced to €9.85 million.

Bushey Park boasts not only eight bedrooms and bathrooms, but also a large pool, a home cinema, music studio, games room and tennis courts.

Described as "an exquisite late-Georgian country home magically positioned against a backdrop of the Dublin Mountains within a picture-postcard like scene", the property sits on 27 acres and comprises some 10,597 square feet.

Completed around 1815, the house was "comprehensively restored and extended by the musician owner, Chris de Burgh, and his wife, Diane", according to sellers Ireland Sotheby's International Realty.

London-based interior designer Simon Kingi was commissioned to oversee the design of the interiors, while "many modern amenities were incorporated, including advanced security provision, integrated sound systems and efficient heating systems".

"Sympathetically designed and carefully executed, the transition between the original and the new build is seamless," the listing states.

"These works also included the conversion of stone out-buildings into the generous pool complex and a guest lodge and created new Georgian style stabling, garaging and workshops.

"The stone outbuildings forming a lovely contrast and counterpoint to the scale, finish and texture of the mansion house. The effect is extremely aesthetically pleasing and complementary to the picturesque setting and everything is presented in superb condition and extremely well maintained."

Inside the home is "an interlinking suite of fine reception rooms", a large kitchen and family room, a leisure complex and studio.

A main staircase, back staircase and elevator link to the eight-bedroom suites on the first floor, each "generous and enjoying fine views".

Outside, the gardens are described as "simply delightful and very much a feature of Bushey Park".

"Extremely private and secure, a series of internal pathways meander through the grounds, with large garden terraces gloriously linking the house to the wider grounds," the sellers say.

"The grounds are resplendent with a significant variety of wildlife. The views magical throughout the year."

There is also a guest lodge, gate lodge, "coach house style garaging and workshops" and a stable block.

People interested in the property are advised to contact David Ashmore Ireland Sotheby's International Realty for full sale information, including floorplans.
