Inside Phillip Schofield's make up room - champers, balloons and a lot of biscuits

Phillip Schofield granted fans an access all areas pass to his This Morning dressing room as he prepared to celebrate his birthday at the end of the week.

The 59-year-old TV presenter is just hours away from turning 60 – having been born on April Fools Day back in 1962 in his home town of Oldham in Greater Manchester.

As fans of This Morning will know, Phil and his co-host Holly Willoughby don’t bother hosting the show on Fridays, as five days of work in a row seems to be too much for them to cope with.

And thus, with his birthday falling on a Friday this year, celebrations were forced to be held early – with cake and gifts galore being showered on the grey haired old man on Thursday.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Phil shared the moment where some of the This Morning crew brought a cake to his dressing room and treated him to a rowdy rendition of the classic song, Happy Birthday.

As a result, fans were able to see directly into Phil’s dressing room which was equipped with plenty of mirror, make-up lights, and professional barber’s chairs.

Fans were able to see bottles of Pol Roger Brut Vintage on display which have a retail price of £88.00 per bottle – while packets of rather more affordable ginger nuts biscuits which retail around £0.90 could also be seen.

Gifts and cards could also be seen in Phil’s dressing room – with packages wrapped in brown paper and one card reading: “Time doesn’t change you” and another warning: “Someone please call 9 wine wine.”

While outside of Phil’s dressing room, the corridor had been lined with gold and silver helium filled balloons – making the celebrations clear to all nearby.

More balloons were scattered across the floor, while a vase full of flowers could also be seen near where Phil was having his make-up applied.

Meanwhile, on Thursday’s show, the spotlight was shone on Phil as the episode came to a close.

Lisa Snowdon presented Phillip with a stunning birthday cake as Holly said: "Before we go, we couldn't end the show without wishing Phil a very happy birthday!"

"It's tomorrow by the way," Phil replied as Holly added: "Yeah but we're not here tomorrow!"

"Thank you!" Phil said as he blew out the huge sparkler on top of his cake as guest chef Gok Wan told him to "have the best day".

“Look at this, what a great day! And have a wonderful birthday Phil, you deserve it," Gok said, as Phil revealed: "We're going out for lunch in a bit."

“Lovely, I'll go drop the car off then!" Gok replied as Holly was heard saying: "Danger danger!" before muttering something about picking herself "up from the floor".

Fans were gobsmacked that Phil is reaching the milestone age of 60.
